Brazil Matas de Minas
As the largest producing state in the largest producing country in the world, Minas Gerais dominates Brazil’s coffee industry – so much so that there are four major growing areas with their own distinct cup profiles. For multiple years we’ve worked in the Matas de Minas region in the eastern part of the state, sourcing from small farms that each produce fewer than 100 bags of coffee per year at altitudes between 1,200 and 1,600 meters above sea level. The cherries are picked, dried on patios, sorted, and then depulped, lending the coffee its heavy body and creamy, chocolatey sweetness and mellow acidity. This year’s selection features notes of almond butter, green apple, cocoa, and raspberry. Enjoy!
