Guatemala Alto Refugio
Famous for its stunning azure waters and ringed by volcanoes, Lago de Atitlán ranks as one of Guatemala’s top coffee-growing regions. The rich soil combined with the altitude create ideal conditions for producers like Juan Francisco Pira, who owns two estates on the southern side of the lake. JFP, as we call him, has been a supplier to Colectivo since 2017 and serves as the conduit to the indigenous farmers responsible for our single-origin Guatemala Quetzal. This is the first time that we’ve sourced from one of his own farms, though.
We love the notes of tart cherry, baking spices, and chocolate brownie in this fully-washed micro-lot from Finca Alto Refugio, as well as the clarity and juicy acidity. Enjoy!
